About the Workshop:
This workshop will show you how to create exciting pastels by starting with an underpainting. Pastels are a vibrant and beautiful medium that can be used in bold strokes of pure color pigment to achieve exciting, expressive paintings. The use of an underpainting is a great way to loosen up and make a more interesting and painterly painting.
There will be a demonstration and discussion covering the various forms of dry pastels, papers and techniques as well as good planning before starting your painting. Learning how to handle pastels and layer color is also a key topic.
The group will be painting together from the same reference photo provided. Individual attention is given as you work on your own painting. To conclude the day, a “feedback “ session is held to review ideas and questions.
